Warner Music has bought a majority stake in a Spanish company specializing in artist management as it seeks to expand alternative sources of revenue to compensate for falling CD sales.
Warner declined on Tuesday to say what it had paid for the stake in Get In, which manages Spanish acts including Grammy award-winning band La Oreja de Van Gogh and has staged concerts for international artists such as Lenny Kravitz and Metallica.
Warner Music narrowed its losses last quarter as it improved sales in Europe and diversified more into high-margin revenue streams such as artist management and touring.
Warner, whose top artists include Madonna, Brian Eno and Bjork, has formed partnerships and acquired companies around Europe over the past year to expand the range of services it can offer its artists.
